Sarah is a long-time ESL and general education teacher; she first earned her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Linguistics from the University of Toronto, going on to attain a TESOL diploma from the Vancouver Community College, and a Master of Science in Education degree from Niagara University.
With personal knowledge of IELTS requirements and structure, Sarah helps students to develop the competence in reading, writing, listening, and speaking that they require in order to succeed in high-stakes testing situations.
Speaking on the street or having conversation with somebody was hard for me. I was confused when people talked too fast. I was lucky to find my teacher, Ms. Sarah. She helped me to get confidence in speaking so I could take an interview or express what I think. I enjoyed my classes so much. Ms. Sarah is so patient and she would find a way to make my lesson fun
and memorable. When she taught me pronunciation in Canada, she jumped up from her chair to show
stress in a sentence. We practiced sounds with paper to see if they had stress and we listened to phone
conversations to see how regular English sounds. Sometimes we read nursery rhymes so I could learn
rhythm – these rhymes I will not forget because they were so funny. When I took my IELTS test, I could understand the examiner and answer her questions well. I could also understand the recording in the listening part. I think I passed the IELTS because my teacher knows the test. If your teacher does not know the test, she cannot help you pass. I want to thank Ms. Sarah for being patient and caring. My family back home and here in Canada are so happy – I can study in a university here because I passed IELTS.
